Patterson Hicks

Patterson Hicks is a counselor intern who offers a supportive, collaborative space where clients can strengthen their relationships and deepen their connection to themselves and others. He works with individuals and couples from diverse backgrounds, with a special focus on neurodiverse relationships, communication challenges, emotional intimacy, and navigating life transitions. Patterson integrates Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), parts work, and interpersonal neurobiology with a trauma-informed and neurodivergent-affirming lens. He seeks to create a space where differences in processing, communication, or relationship needs are honored—not pathologized.

Patterson is completing his MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at the University of the Cumberlands and practices under the supervision of Chloe Davis-Hess, MA, LPCC-S, and Flo DeWitt, M.Div., MA, LPCC-S. Before becoming a counselor, he spent over two decades leading teams and managing complex interpersonal dynamics in the business world, experience that shaped his respect for resilience and the power of authentic connection. His approach is rooted in the belief that healing happens when people feel safe, understood, and empowered to grow into deeper connection with themselves and those around them.

“When we are no longer able to change a situation, we are challenged to change ourselves.” – Viktor Frankl
